Tourist Accommodation Zones – These are areas that permit tourist rentals. It is important to note that within these areas there are two types of properties commonly referred to as Phase One and Phase Two condominiums which can also include Bed and Breakfast and Pensions. By placing restrictive covenants (Phase I and Phase II on properties pre-designated as “Resort Land” the Municipality of Whistler requires perpetual availability and use of tourist beds near the village and mountain facilities. This guarantees a minimum percentage of units for tourist accommodation year round.
